Dear Family Teams,
This week is an exciting time for our family as we finish fundraising and prepare to walk on Saturday in March for Babies! I hope you are full of anticipation as you and your family and friends count down to Saturday!
Our family has been participating annually in March for Babies (formerly WalkAmerica) since 2005, the year after our first baby Emily Grace was stillborn. The March of Dimes was trying something new that year and Family Teams were forming to raise money and create awareness about prematurity. We were thrilled to be the Family Team in Northeast Florida that raised the most money for WalkAmerica in 2005 (and 2006) and felt like we were giving other families a fighting chance to help their baby although we had lost ours! We were so happy to give back to an organization that was there for us and one that we felt gave families hope!
In 2007, we delivered a full term baby and were blessed beyond our wildest dreams. We were excited to push Hannah in her first walk that year and beamed with joy! In 2009 we had another full term baby and Audrey joined our happy family. I’m the Mommy of three girls, one that I walk in memory of and two that I walk in honor of.
I’m sharing my story to encourage you to continue fundraising! Here are some final fundraising tips:
• Call your family members that haven’t yet donated,
• Send an email to the friend that said she’d donate but hasn’t,
• Post a reminder message on Facebook…
So many people wait to the last minute to donate and just need a gentle fundraising reminder.
You may be pleasantly surprised at the donations that come in. Anything you can do to raise a few more dollars! Every dollar raised is another life saved!
We’re honored to be an Ambassador Family this year and thankful that we have two living children that call us Mommy and Daddy.
I look forward to seeing you Saturday! Let’s hear it for the Family Teams!!
